Run in Budapest - Highlights

Centuries old city, Budapest is in the heart of Central Europe. It was cosmopolitan, rich, and beautiful, before being pushed by history, scarred by war and communism. But the city wakes up timidly. The historic districts of Buda hill and Belvaros have been rebuilt, the Art-nouveau buildings of Pest renewed. Budapest is cheerful and attractive, although still, and you will discover its treasures and soul on both sides of the majestic Danube and climbing its famous hills. And of course, with all its thermal springs, Budapest is the perfect place for a post-run hot bath in one of the beautiful thermal public palaces.

*Alternative route : long route with Citadel Hill, Gellert Bath, Liberty Bridge (Szabadsag), and Old Market 15.1km (on this tour you can skip the hill ascension / Standard tour, see map 11.9km / Short tour (without Synagogue) 9.8km. In any tour, you can add 5km, running on the running track around the Margrit Island, access from Margrit Bridge.

NB : if you are unsure, check your position on the map and the track.

Testimonies

Not bad route but lack of directions on the extended run up Gellert Hill got me lost a couple of times.

LW - June 7th 2019

Running through a city, what a great way of sightseeing. We managed to run 17 km through Budapest with 300 D+ and 300 D. What a beautiful city! We used the @urbirun and @izi.travel app for the route and tweaked the route a bit. As we don't have any hills in our hometown Rotterdam, we managed to squeeze in some additional hill training. - from instagram @basrdam
