2021, 21 challenges...

Update December 31st 2021 (day 366, finish) – A new year is a new page… and the year 2021 will probably be as bizarre and unpleasant as 2020… well anyway a large part of it, and if not worse…

So, just to keep morale up, while staying at home… you need projects…

And since we’re here, running projects, right?

So here are my 21 ideas for running (or sporting) challenges for 2021…

… which happens to be the year of my 50th birthday as well… 

So there will be 21s, and 50s on the list…

Listed here without any order of preference, feasibility, genre, or other… just randomly listed… And we’ll see what happens…and if the health keep being good, and circumstances not too… hazardous…

List and status on June 30th :

  1. Run 20×21.1km (half-marathon) : you can join this urbirun20×21challenge on the dedicated facebook group, if you feel like challenging yourself and get motivation – status done : 50
  2. Run 2’021m of positive elevation on a trail run – not completed
  3. Run 50×21.1km (half-marathon) - status done : 50
  4. Run in 21 different swiss cantons (like US states) (there is 26 cantons in Switzerland) - not completed: 14 VS/VD/FR/SO/TG/SG/ AR/ZH/SZ/ZG/LU/BE/AI/AG
  5. Run a 50km run, fo my 50th birthday - status : done, on the day of my birthday, in 5h10. Read this particular birthday “party”…
  6. Run across Switzerland, in 12 stages - learn more about this project here - status : DONE 374km 10'957m elevation – read about this amazing adventure here, stories, galleries… Unforgettable.
  7. Climb 2021 steps (during the same run/hike) ( I need to figure out where, because I don’t want to run up/down 10 stepd 202 times…) - status : 0
  8. Bike 2021km - status : 2'226km – 28'095m elevation
  9. Run a marathon on my own (learn the real true authentic truth about the 1st marathon in History here, maybe) - status : done, included in the 50k run of challenge 5, but I’d like to run a marathon anyway. (and included in stage 8 of the swiss.crossing lake2lake)
  10. Run a total of 2021km during the year - status done : 3'143km
  11. Run a total of 3000km during the year - status done :3'143km
  12. Run 5km in 20’21 - not completed
  13. Run a 21 days run streak - not completed
  14. Trail run from my home to my parent’s, across the mountains (about 40km and 2100m+ elevation) - not completed
  15. Do a 50 days outdoor activity streak - not completed: 12, but a total of more than 260 outdoor activities this year…
  16. Run 50 stadium loops, that is 20km running around like a hamster - status : done
  17. Do 2021 push-ups - not completed – I did count properly, but I guess about 1'000…
  18. Do 2021 abs – not completed – I wirked more on my six packs than on my six packs…
  19. Bike 2021m of positive elevation during one bike ride - not completed – highest elevation in 1 bike ride +1'175m
  20. …listen to my imagination… - not completed
  21. Complete at least 11 of these 21 challenges - not completed – status : 9/21 (1–3–5–6–8–9–10–11–16)… not very good, but my favorites are in…
