Beautiful city open on the river, and the world, Bordeaux which was for a long time the first port of France, is the heart of the Bordeaux vineyard. The old town is dotted with carved stones buildings, in the great 18th century style. But there are also narrow medieval streets, darker and more popular areas, changing as the whole city is. Classified as UNESCO World Heritage, Lonely Planet elected Bordeaux as the city to visit in 2017 ... So don't wait, and go run it.

*Alternative route : the tour can be shorten, without the northern part (so without the Cité du Vin and Submarine base)

NB : if unsure, please check your position on the map and the track.

Testimonies

This morning with the sunrise I tried the @urbirun route to visit Bordeaux. It was a pleasant tour! ???? It changed from my traditional 2 bridges tour. This loop allows to discover the best of Bordeaux. I started at the water-mirror, towards the Cité du Vin along the quays and the rive. After the Cité du Vin you arrive in the new basins district. I predict a great future for this neighborhood. Then you run back to the center of Bordeaux through the Chartrons, crossing the Public Garden and the Quinconces Square. You pass along the Grand Theater, then Pey Berlan Square to get to Saint Michel. And back to the water-mirror to finish the loop. So this is a route that covers a large part of the city. You are not disturbed by the traffic, so you can fully enjoy your run. To make it short, you discover the old Bordeaux and the new districts in a single run ! A very varied tour combining visit of the city center and its many attractions, and a run along the Garonne. Great for some speed work-out. I discovered magnificent squares, and interesting details on some monuments and neighborhoods of Bordeaux, where wanted to go for a walk after the run (by e-mail, translation from french by urbirun)

Not being a regular runner, what I liked is the little touch of humor in the commentary, especially when evoking the wines of the region... While running along the river, I was tempted by a little getaway in the vineyard! Overall, I enjoyed the experience: running while gettin information about what you see, was great! Especially as I am not an absolute fan of running - it gives another perspective to the sport. Long live Urbirun! (by e-mail, translation from french by urbirun)
