Running across Switzerland, lake to lake

Here am I. Start day is fixed…
Stages are ready. There will be 12 of them (maps at the end of the post).
12 running days, all across a whole country…
The will and the fitness look ok…

I’ve been stubborn to set the departure date as late as possible, for fear of losing in the weather lottery… Yes. It’s stupid, and I have the impression that I was more focused to the weather than to the rest… But in fact, it will be a lottery anyway, so…

So I will take a train to Rorschach on May 29th, and start running on the 30th, heading south-west, to Lake Geneva…

The training seem ok and I feel good. I know I can run 28–32km without too much trouble, with the backpack and 8–900m of elevation gain.
I pretend not to know that it will be even a bit longer and higher (1’100m av. elevation)  and every single day

So yes, I’m a bit scared
Anxious about the challenge. Worried about having a health issues before the start or during the run, injury or illness. Worried about the weather conditions that could totally change the atmosphere of this adventure… eating a sandwich while shivering in a bus shelter or taking a break on a sunny terrace, it’s not the same story… right?

But for sure, I have the desire and will.
A great desire. To have nothing else to do and think about than running… leaving A in the morning and run to B, carrying my little stuff. Free. To trace my route (although it is already), and run on my own from one lake to the other…

And above all I am lucky to have the health and strength to try do it, and to have the unfailing support of my lover, who has been undergoing my preparation for a long time… And this adventure is her birthday gift to me, it’s my journey

You will get daily stories, report and pictures here on the website, and of course on the urbirun facebook page and @urbirun instagram feed as well, including stories along the route… You can even join the newsletter here, if you feel like…
